Auditions FAQs
When and where do auditions take place?
Auditions will take place at the RBS Matnas, Nachal Dolev 16 on Monday June 6th 2022 - Isru Chag Shavuos
You must register for auditions by Wednesday, June 1st 2022 using this link: https://forms.gle/RVz4U62NxkKEb4wP7
**Please note: Auditions this year will be done in a different format than usual.
Please read below for exact details of how to prepare for your auditions!
GIRLS:
-
Please be at the Matnas by 8:30am to confirm registration and receive your audition number.
-
What to prepare? You need to prepare the two songs found on the Audition Songs page. At the audition, we will be looking for many skills including stage presence, singing and your ability to move to the beat. You do not need to prepare an individual audition song at this stage.
-
What to wear? Please tie your hair back so that we can see your face. Please wear a skirt/dress that covers your knees, but not a long maxi-skirt. All the parts in this year’s show are boys - so please try not to dress too “girly”.
-
You may have to stay until 3:30pm, or you may be sent home earlier.
-
Please bring drinks, snacks and lunch.
-
Please note that you may not be asked to sing on your own at this stage. This will be a group audition that will enable the Director to decide who should come back for a further individual audition (a callback).
GYM and DANCE:
-
Please be at the Matnas by 3:00pm to confirm registration and receive your audition number.
-
What to prepare? No preparation required. Please warm up while you are waiting for auditions to start. Everyone will be taught a short routine and be given a chance to display different skills.
-
What to wear? Please wear a leotard under your shirt so that we do not see your tummy! Please wear leggings that cover your knees and a skirt that you can move in.
-
You may have to stay until 7:30pm, or you may be sent home earlier.
-
Please bring drinks and snacks.
-
Please note that you may not be asked to dance on your own at this stage. This will be a group audition that will enable the Director to decide who should come back for a further individual audition (a callback).
WOMEN:
-
Please be at the Matnas by 8:00pm to confirm registration and receive your audition number.
-
What to prepare? Please prepare a 1 minute song IN ENGLISH. You can act and show movement and any other talents while you are singing.
-
All women will watch all the auditions and then be sent home.
Are these auditions for women and girls?
Please look carefully at the different time slots and make sure you come to the right audition!
Can I bring music?
No. Please do not bring a soundtrack.
What parts are in the show?
Please see the character descriptions to learn more about the parts in this year’s show.
Is Regal Productions really looking for new people?
Yes! We are always eager to showcase new talent and fresh faces.
Can I audition if I don’t live in Bet Shemesh?
Yes, but all rehearsals will take place in the Bet Shemesh area.
Do I have to audition in English?
Yes! Our show is in English so we want to hear you sing and speak in English.
Who can come to auditions?
Auditions are for the girls auditioning ONLY. Mothers are not invited to attend this year. Only girls/women who are auditioning will be allowed into the audition room.
When will I hear if I am in the show or not?
At the end of your audition time slot, you will be informed if you should come back another day for callbacks or if we do not have a part for you this year. Adults may not hear an answer until the following morning.
When are callbacks?
Callbacks will take place on Tuesday (girls cast), Wednesday (dance and gym) and Thursday (adults and maybe girls again) June 7th-9th.
Callback Preparation:
GIRLS: Please prepare a song that you love to sing. The song must be in English. Please do not bring a soundtrack. You will be given acting parts to prepare and improvisation to do on the spot.
DANCE and GYM: Please prepare a ONE minute routine that shows what you can do. You may bring music on a USB or Bluetooth device.
WOMEN: You will be given acting parts to prepare and improvisation to do on the spot. You may need to repeat your song from the first audition.
But I've tried out before and didn't get a part!
Keep trying! Many of our actresses were turned down audition after audition, sometimes even when they had the main part the previous year! Each of our shows is different, so each year is a brand new audition process.
The Regal Girls Choir:
This year, auditions for the Regal Girls choir will take place in the first week of September.
The choir will produce music videos and recordings that will be used in the final USB version of The Lost Prince.
